Could Harpenden be Britains Blue Zone…?

Reported as the UKs No1 town and with the average life expectancy for both men and women highest at 85 years, could the AL5 postcode potentially be Britains first blue zone?

What is a blue zone you may wonder, well watch Netflix’s Dan s short 4 part series called Live to 100 Blue Zones and it is very interesting!

Currently there are 5 countries in the world that within them they have 5 locations where people have or are living to over 100 years in larger concentrations. Japan, Italy, Greece, Costa Rica and the US have a specific geographical region such as Sardinia in Italy where the population are living well up to 100!

Why is this happening and how? They are connected nature, the land, environment, energy, families, friends and life! They are in the flow of life not on screens or stressed but actual mindful living with gardening, grow own foods, sports, sunshine, sea air and seasonal local foods.

They sip wine with their meals, eat very little added sugar and sleep! They are happy, healthy and at home in their bodies, minds and nature. Although modern life is taking over some, there is new hope in Singapore! A modern day blue zone, where the policy is that people are their “natural resource” and the people feel loved, supported, wellbeing’s!

They prioritise walking, fitness for all in the centre, health, home ownership, happiness, helping make healthier choices easier, supporting the elderly and being connected to nature and each other.

With all Harpenden already has to offer, it made me wonder... We are so lucky to have so much natural beauty around us, sustainable seasonal restaurants like Lussmans and Farm shop Carpenters plus so much more but do we as individuals stop and pause to take it all in?

To truly breathe and connect with all we have locally and around us in nature even on the rainy Spring days! There is another little blossom tree budding! If we stop to notice and appreciate…
